What you may be asking yourself right now
Is this product right for me?
Bird&Be PCOS Support is designed for people with PCOS. Its benefits can support you while trying to conceive. For example, for PCOS patients undergoing IVF, Inositol has been shown to improve outcomes. Outside of fertility, it also helps with managing PCOS symptoms, including acne, unwanted hair growth, irregular cycles, and weight gain. Suspect you might have PCOS? It’s worth a chat with your doctor to understand if Inositol could help.
What is PCOS?
PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is a hormonal issue that affects about 1 in 10 females. It affects how the ovaries work, contributing to irregular or absent periods and ovulation, reduced insulin sensitivity, and potentially trouble conceiving.
How do I know if I have PCOS?
Those with PCOS often notice irregular or absent ovulation, and/or other symptoms like excess facial hair, acne or weight gain. Often, doctors will also look for bloodwork results indicating high androgens and/or ultrasound results showing an abnormally high number of antral follicles (these are the “cysts” that the condition gets its name from) to diagnose PCOS. It’s a complex condition that expresses itself in many ways. If you suspect you may have PCOS, talk to your doctor about further investigation.
What is Inositol?
Inositol is a form of sugar, naturally produced by the body and in some foods. Research has shown that Inositol has an effect on insulin and supplementing with Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol at the correct doses can help to manage symptoms of PCOS and contribute to better fertility outcomes, including improved egg quality and reducing the risk of gestational diabetes and preterm birth.
Can I take Inositol with my other supplements and medication?
PCOS Support can be taken alongside any Bird&Be supplements safely. Inositol is also very safe to take with other medications, including Metformin (another PCOS-management treatment), though we recommend checking in with your doctor prior to use if you have any questions.
How and when should I take PCOS support?
PCOS Support comes in a powder, packaged in daily sachets. Take one pack per day, mixed in a glass of water (or your drink of choice). Our Inositol is taste-free and while it can be taken at any time and alongside any other supplements, we recommend taking it in the morning to really feel those insulin-sensitizing effects throughout the day.
How long do I need to take PCOS Support for?
To see the benefits of Inositol—which include greater insulin sensitivity, regulated ovulation, and improved egg quality—at least 3 to 6 months of continual use is needed. Studies so far have shown no negatives associated with continued or long-term use, making it a great option for PCOS management outside of fertility.
Can I take PCOS support if I’m pregnant or chest/breastfeeding?
There are no known risks of taking Inositol during pregnancy or for breastfeeding individuals, but we do recommend checking in with your doctor prior to use to make sure it’s still beneficial. For some, Inositol can help reduce the risk of gestational diabetes (especially if you struggled with insulin-resistance pre-pregnancy), while in others it could contribute to low blood sugar.
What’s the difference between Myo-Inositol vs D-Chiro-Inositol?
Both Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol help with insulin sensitivity, but they work in different ways. Myo-Inositol activates glucose and hormones and affects FSH sensitivity. D-Chiro-Inositol stores glucose (for energy) and reduces androgens (like testosterone). Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol need to be balanced and it’s this imbalance in the body that contributes to some of the symptoms of PCOS. To restore this balance, Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol work better when paired together, and studies have found that a 40:1 ratio of Myo-Inositol to D-Chiro-Inositol (with a daily dose of 4 grams of Myo-Inositol) is the most effective at managing PCOS symptoms, including regulating or restoring ovulation.
Is PCOS Support vegan?
Yes! Myo-Insositol and D-Chiro-Inositol are both vegan, making PCOS Support a great option if you follow a plant-based diet.
Are the PCOS Support sachets recyclable?
Thank you for thinking about the environment—it’s important to us too! The total plastic weight of a whole month’s worth of sachets is 70% less than the plastic tub you often see Inositol sold in. Our sachets are recyclable, though you’ll need to check with your municipality to confirm what they accept. Having trouble? Just reach out to us and we can help.
