At-Home Sperm Test Kit

The at-home test kit provides a numerical reading of several important sperm parameters for fertility:

• Sperm concentration: The number of sperm cells in your semen sample.
• Sperm motility: The percentage of your sperm cells that are alive and moving.
• Progressive motility: The percentage of your sperm cells that are able to move in a forward direction.
• Motile sperm concentration (MSC): Sperm motility represented as a total.
• Progressive motile sperm concentration (PMSC): Progressive motility represented as a total.

Essentially, these numbers tell you how many moving sperm there are in the sample—something that’s key for male fertility. Sperm need to be able to swim forward to reach the egg—and that’s what progressive motile sperm concentration reveals. Generally, the higher the better when you’re trying for pregnancy. Learning about these parameters early can help you get support sooner if needed, rather than losing time trying at home unknowingly.

Finally, you’ll get a recorded video of your sample—trust us, it’s cool!—that can be shared with your doctor or kept completely private inside the app.

The kit comes with a WiFi testing device that connects to your smartphone or computer, along with a power cable and all the testing accessories you’ll need. It works with any Apple iPhone using iOS 16 and above, or any Android using Android 8 and above.

The instructions cover how to download the testing app, and the app will take you step by step through the 20-minute testing process. You’ll then get results immediately on the app.

You’ll find directions in the test kit, but here’s a quick summary. First, you’ll want to download the app (get it on Android, iPhone, Windows PC or Mac). Then, follow these easy steps.

1. Open the app and connect the testing device to WiFi by following the instructions on the screen.
2. Lay out all the pieces from the box on a clean surface.
3. Collect your sample in the provided cup.
4. Add the liquefaction powder to your sample.
5. Wait 10 minutes, then mix your sample. It should now be runny.
6. Use the pipette to drop your sample onto the slide.
7. Insert the slide into the device. The device will record a video of the moving sperm and send it to the app on your phone. Your results will appear in 2 minutes.

The At-Home Sperm Test is optimized for fertility testing and reports results for samples containing more than 2 million sperm per milliliter. But a vasectomy is considered successful if the sperm count is much lower than that, at less than 0.1 million sperm per milliliter. Thus, we do not recommend using the At-Home Sperm Test for post-vasectomy testing.

Your results remain completely private unless you decide to share them. Your test results are securely stored on your device in the YO archive and are not connected to the internet. They will not be saved to your photo album or any public folders.
